The Forest War

The Forest War was a long running insurgency by religious groups against the Socialist Government of Ronastre
The rebels clam the rebellion was over the government’s promotion of Atheism and the anti religious campaign during the cultural revolution.
The first group to take up arms was the Christian Holy Movement soon followed by the Islamic Mujahideen of Ronastre. Almost all their bases were set up in the heavy wooded areas of the northern Ronastre, Eglise border area, due to massive economic social and political problems faced by the government, only Red Volunteer Militia units were deployed to deal with the rebels, it wasn’t until 2014 that CPS agents and LLA troops were sent in as well, this marked a change of tactics by government forces, rather than sweeps by long columns of militia, small squads lead CPS agents would this wore down rebel forces and by 2018 the Ronastrese Mujahideen had ceased to be a fighting force.
It was also during this time the rebel began cross border raids in Eglise Sainte Eve as supplies dried up on the Ronastre side of the border, drawing National Guard and Border agents into the fight, by 2020 the rebels had ceased to be an effective fighting force but low level fighting continued.
The insurgency was eventually crushed in mid 2026.
Most of the insurgents surrendered. Others fought to the death. Only a handful managed to escape.
