Siege of Orwell

The Siege of Orwell was a prolonged military operation during the Last Coast War were forces of the Greater Reich attempted to capture the Ronastrese city of Orwell, the siege when on for much of the war and has gone down as one of the longest and most destructive sieges in history.
Following the battle of Chamberlain during which the last railway and road links to Orwell were cut the Great Reich sent one of its top commanders, General Lee Johnson to lead the assault on the city, however the assault failed due to the heavy fortifications and interlocking minefields that surrounded the city, Johnson decided not waste troops on attacking such a well defended city and instead surrounded the city and ordered the air force run bombing raids over Orwell daily.
For the first six months the city was totally cut off the rest of the country, thousands of Troops and civilians were killed and wounded from a mix of enemy bombardment and a lack of food and medical supplies, however the Ronastre Army was able to retake the Savicheva Airbase from which they were able to airlift supplies to the city, although it was very risky due to Greater Reich AA guns and fighter planes, the siege was finally lifted on the 16 May by the Eglise Army and was soon followed by the end of the war.
