You are forgetting, Iran's coast is on the Indian Ocean. What the Neo-Cons are talking about in regards to Syria is access to the Mediterranean Sea, and with it access to Europe and N. Africa, as well as a short-cut to the Atlantic.

Syria is next to the Mediterranean SEA

Romney is too stupid to know you can sail from the Persian Gulf and reach the rest of the world...
