You are forgetting, Iran's coast is on the Indian Ocean. What the Neo-Cons are talking about in regards to Syria is access to the Mediterranean Sea, and with it access to Europe and N. Africa, as well as a short-cut to the Atlantic.
>sailing through the Persian Gulf to the US would entail sailing around Africa >additional 11,000 or so miles to travel compared to sailing from Syria >5,500 gpm * 11,000 miles = 60,500,000 gallons of gas
Does he know that Britons are useless when it comes to logistics?
But nevertheless, all too true of many USA politicians and the failure of the education systems in the USA. Ridiculously high rate of illiteracy among high school students, etc... all quite well known.
Saying that Americans have poor geography skills isn't really helping your cause. I mean, don't communists want to unite the world? Insulting a country's population doesn't really get them on your side.
Well, the US is the birthplace of the term "stereotypical", so you can't really blame other for that. And for my opinion, in this economy, it doesn't a big deal to forget some of the stuff you learned at school when you're having 2 or 3 jobs or trying to feed you family.
Beside that, I think you're missing the point. The author's joke here isn't aimed at the American people in general, it aimed in Romney. It is obvious that when he said something like that, most people would thought about the Persian Gulf and said "oh great this guy is an idiot", and based on what Romney said lately about matter regarding the Russian and the Chinese, it's obvious that the man's digging his own grave.
Not really entirely sure what you mean by that, the grammar is incorrect but it's comprehensible. Are you taking a dig at my political standpoint because I've insulted your nation's geographic ability?
